In my opinion, greyhounds are faster. Wolves do have speed behind them but, they prefer to keep it concealed until it is needed. Wolves are designed to go over long distances without tiring. A fast trot or lope is what they like. A mad dash is used only when they are sprinting at the last second to get their prey. Greyhounds are a type of hunting dog. They do not have the same features as a wolf because they were bred specifically to hunt and chase prey for people. Kind of the same but also completely different.

∙ 14y agoGreyhounds are much faster, but do not have the stamina and staying power of wolves. They evolved to hunt their prey in a different way. The ancestor to the greyhound by speed. The wolf by persistance in patient pursuit until the prey gives up.
Wolves are more concerned about stealth than speed, anyway. Greyhounds don't have to hunt prey.

∙ 7y agoA wolf can quickly achieve speeds of 50–60 km/h and can maintain rapid pursuit for at least 20 minutes. The Greyhound can reach a full speed of 70 km/h, for 250 meters of a race. So to answer your question directly the gray hound is faster but the wolf can hold it's speed much longer

∙ 12y agoYes, MUCH faster. Fastest greyhound ever (according to Guinness records) was 41.83 mph but wolves has been known to run 45 mph during hunt.
