Vitthal Narayan Purav. The story behind the road is that during early seventies, government was short of funds and Hon. Mr Vitthal Narayan Purav was a from a wealthy family. He constructed the road single handedly with funds from his own pockets. This construction did drain his family wealth. When passed away he was not quite well off as during his earlier days. His great grand sons still live in the Gaothan(village) area of Chembur. This man was a legend in his own sense. It is believed that he was instrumental in construction of a lot of school n colleges in Chembur. Today also his family tree is respected Goathan, where they still live. Also another thing which i had herd was, he had huge lands in Mumbai which he donated for the upliftment of the poor.
