In Greek mythology Cronus the Titan had 5 children - Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera and Demeter and , because he was told one of his children would kill him, swallowed each of them. He was born to Cronus and Rhea. Cronus was swallowing his other children, but Rhea wrapped up a stone in blankets which Cronus then swallowed. Rhea then gave Zeus to Amalthea, a nymph. to watch over him. When he was older, he gave Cronus a mixture of mustard and wine, making him cough up his brothers and sisters. A war then ensured, in which Zeus chopped kronos up into pieces and flung him into Tarturus. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades then drew lots for the Earth, in which Zeus got the sky, Poseidon got the sea, and Hades was left with the Underworld. Zeus's favorite daughter was Athena and Artemis myths say that he had two favorite daughter. (they said he liked Artemis better in one and Athena better then the other So you really cant say.)
Zeus had many mortal sons, although the best known was Heracles(called Hercules by the Romans.) Some others include: Tantalus, Alexander the Great(in Myth only, in reality he was the son of Phillip II,) Castor and Pollux, Sarpedon Minos and Rhadamanthys, Perseus, and Arcas.
Zeus is called the father of gods and mortals because he fatheredmany of lesser gods and goddesses. He also fathered many demigods, the most famous of these being Hercules.
Your question isn't clear. Zeus was omnipotent and could do whatever he wanted. There was no clear definition of his will.
He is in love with Hera, his favorite daughter is Athena, and he loves to see Artemis hunt, and using weapons Ares makes...(Hepaustus was known to be lazy with his work. That's why everyone calls him "The Lame god")
When you say "Who was after Zeus", if you ment in the ranking of power.. then it was Zeus, then Poseidon, then Hades. If you ment birth, then it was Hades, Poseidon, then Zeus. Hope i helped. :)
Ganymedes, the cup-bearer of Zeus whom he abducted in the form of an eagle, served ambrosia - the immortals of Olympus also drank nectar.
Because he is a father figure to Gods and mortals alike, not in a literal sense, but because he feels that way. ANyone can petition him and can call upon him for help. Unlike his father and grandfather who ruled before him, he is not a tyrannical despot, but delegates authority and honors and is ver…y approachable by others. (MORE)
Zeus was the king of gods in Greek mythology. God of lightning and ruler of the sky
From every thing I have heard personally, I think Zeus's favorite city state is Olympia . This is where the Olympics were held every four years in his honor.
because she is the wisest out of all of them. Answer 2: . And also she is his only daughter who is not the result of infidelity.
No, you have it mixed up. Athena is the favorite of Zeus because when she was born she was the only child who would stay with him when she was older and he probably likes her because she is so wise and fights for peace. Yet, Artemis could be considered a favorite of Zeus. He did give her everything …she asked for. Zeus seems to ardor his twin children. (MORE)
That isn't really a question :), but if you mean how he was born then he was the son of Cronos and Rhea, with his brothers and sisters, Hades, Posiden, Hestia, Demeter, and Hera.
Actually Zeus had many mortal wives he hid from Hera, his real wife who was a goddess Some of Zeus lovers were named Io ( she didn't have any children to Zeus but Zeus loved her so much that he turned her into a white cow to keep her safe from Hera), Europa ( she gave birth to Minos the king of the …Minoans Danae ( she gave birth to Perseus the great Greek hero), Alcmene ( she gave birth to Heracles or as Romans called the little Greek hero Hercules), and Leda ( she gave birth to Helen of Troy! Helen not only was the most prettiest girl in the world but so enchanting the Trojan war was fought over after she left with a man named Paris whom she fell in love with. also Leda birth to the Greek hero Polydeuces). There are many more mortals, nymphs, titaness , demi - goddess half - goddess and goddess Zeus has fallen in love with. I know you're thinking: wow Zeus isn't a very good husband. He isn't. Look even Greek gods make mistakes. Answer 2: PLease do not call his lovers wives! (MORE)
No he hasn't that's why he lived in the skies if he was he'd have to live on earth
Is the a complete question? Do you mean "What does the term 'mortal put on mortality' mean"? If so, it means that mortal (n.) is subject to death, ie, "Man will eventually die." "This mortal put on immortality" would mean that a person will not see death.
Anything really he was god of lighting, king of gods, sky, and upper air mass so anything since he controlled gods
The major place where people went to pay tribute to Zeus wasOlympia. There were several large festivals and temples alldedicated to him there.
The Fates, because all gods and goddesses cannot control destiny they could stall it but not prevent what is destined to be. It's said that the only reason why Zeus isn't completely omnipotent is because of the Fates
Hera is Zeus' only wife, but he had many lovers. It's difficult to say which one was his favorite.
In ancient Greece, there was no such thing as separate cities and states. These were combined into city states (called a polis) which consisted of a city and all the surrounding land. Yes, each greek god or goddess is said to have had a favorite polis: Apollo: Delphi Zeus: Olympia Hera: Argos Ar…es: Sparta Athena: Athena Dionysus: Delos etc. (MORE)
Europa who had Minos and Rhadamanthys by Zeus; later, a third son, Sarpedon was added to the myth. She is also said to have borne a daughter, Crete.
Athena Athena is Zeus ' daughter and his favorite child, she is often described as "gray-eyed" or "flashing- eyed." In popular myth she is said to have no mother, because she sprang full grown and in full armor from her fathers head. This is not entirely true however. Athena's mother was Metis, … Zeus came to lust after her, and chased her in his direct way. Metis tried to escape as best she could, going so far as to change her form many times, turning into various creatures such as hawks, fish, and serpents. But Zeus was both determined and equally proficient at changing form. He continued his pursuit until she relented. An Oracle of Gaea then prophesied that Metis first child would be a girl but, her second child would be a boy that would overthrow Zeus as had happened to his father ( Cronus ) and his grandfather ( Uranus ). Zeus took this warning to heart. When he next saw Metis he flattered her and put her at her ease, then with Metis off guard Zeus suddenly opened his mouth and swallowed her. This was the end of Metis but, possibly the beginning of Zeus 's wisdom. After a time Zeus developed the mother of all headaches. He howled so loudly it could be heard throughout the earth. The other gods came to see what the problem was. Hermes realized what needed to be done and directed Hephaestus to take a wedge and split open Zeus 's skull. Out of the skull sprang Athena, full grown and in a full set of armor. Greeks believed that the men were solely responsible for conception of a child, and the woman 's only role was to carry it until it was born, therefore Metis is not given any credit for Athena birth. There are two distinctly different representations of Athena's character. In the Iliad she is a fierce and ruthless warrior- goddess, who takes pleasure in war and fighting. In the Odyssey and all alter poetry she is still very powerful, but only fights to defend the State. She was the embodiment of wisdom, purity and reason, as well as the patron of the handicrafts and sciences and agriculture. She gave men the bridle allowing them to tame and use Poseidon 's gift - horses. She also invented the trumpet, the flute, the pot, the rake, the plow, the yoke, the ship, and the chariot. Of the three virgin goddesses (Athena, Artemis and Hestia ) she was chief and called the Maiden, Parthenos, accordingly her temple in Athens was called the Parthenon. Athena was perhaps the most recognizable of the gods. She was always depicted with her unmistakable helmet and the ever- present spear. Because she was Zeus ' favorite she was allowed to use his weapons and armor, including the awful aegis, his buckler and even his thunderbolt. Her shield was also very distinctive, after Perseus defeated the gorgon Medusa , Athena affixed its head to her shield. Athena's special city was Athens, patronage of which she won from Poseidon by giving the city the olive tree which Cecrops judged to be a better gift than the water spring that Poseidon provided. Her tree is the olive, which she herself created. Her bird is the owl, also a symbol of wisdom. (MORE)
The most common favorite foods and drinks of the Gods would be ambrosia, nectar, honeywine, and grapes. Zeus is no exception, as he is often depicted eating grapes and drinking from a large goblet(I assume the the liquids inside the goblet aren't water or Sprite).
Because he was born first from chaos his mom so he is the king by birth because no one else could do it because Zeus took away a the second generation children which were titans because they were evil. Then the others came but that is another story about the other gods.
No one really knows whos his favorite sister. My guess is that Hera is his favorite sister, saying that he married her.
Beyond the last star. Beyond the last galaxy. Where no mortal can see or be. *Another way to "find" Zeus of course is to read all the old greek myths. For many people they hold incredible meaning even today and the gods are truly multi-dimensional characters. (For the Poptropica character, see …the related question) (MORE)

He was the king of the gods. He had to make sure no overthrows him, the monsters don't eat the humans, the titans don't appear again, he has to make sure the sky doesn't fall down because Atlas was to lazy to hold it up, he also has to keep on making plans on luring his bossy sister/wife away from M…t. this is a hard question to answer. thankfully, Athena's helping me answer it. thank her, cause this is embarrassing for her. because she had a sense of justice, which is stronger then any of Zeus's other children's, she probably became the closest child to Zeus. not to say Zeus doesn't love his o…ther children too. Yes they did. How do you suppose demi-Gods such as Hercules or Perseus came about? Not only did they communicate with mortals, but they had sexual relations with them. Zeus, father of Hercules and Perseus consorted with their mortal mothers making the two hero's demi-Gods. Meaning half God, half hum…an. Many of the Greek Gods took on multiple lovers, several where mortal. (MORE)
