A tornado is a violently rotating and destructive column of air extending from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground.
The formation of tornadoes these is complicated.
First, a condition called wind shear, in which the speed or direction of the wind changes with altitude. If the shear is strong enough it can essentially tilt a thunderstorm, this separates the updraft and downdraft of the thunderstorm, preventing them from interfering with one another. This allows the storm to become stronger and last longer.
Additionally, if the wind shear is strong enough it can start the air rolling in what is called horizontal vorticity. This horizontal vorticity can then be turned vertical by a thunderstorm's updraft. When this happens, the thunderstorm may start rotating. The rotation is especially strong in an updraft called a mesocyclone. If the storm intensifies rapidly enough, a relatively warm downdraft called a rear-flank downdraft or RFD can wrap around the bottom part of the mesocyclone. This can then tighten and intensify its rotation and bring it down to the ground to produce a tornado.
No. An F5 is the strongest tornado that is able to form.
Tornadoes cannot form in space. A tornado is a vortex of air. There is no air in space.
Tornadoes can form anywhere!!
Yes. A tornado can't form without a thunderstorm.
No, it can not happen. You will always need a cloud to form a tornado. The kind of cloud that a tornado uses is a cumulonimbus cloud.
Partially. A tornado warning means that a tornado is likely to form or already has formed.
well i think a tornado can form anywhere
No. A tornado warning means that a tornado is likely to form or has already been spotted.
a tornado in the form of fire
No. An F5 is the strongest tornado that is able to form.
They form in Tornado Alley for a couple of reasons. One of them is because of the weather. It is humid there. But, tornadoes can also form outside of Tornado Alley. They can form anymore!
Yes. A tornado watch simply means that general conditions are favorable for tornadoes to form. A tornado warning means that a tornado has been detected or may form at any moment.
a tornado in the form of fire
There is no such thing as an electric tornado.
A tornado is made of matter, mostly air, but it is not a special form of matter.
No, a tornado cannot form without a thunderstorm. A tornado needs the crossing winds of two air masses to provide rotation in order for a tornado to form. Tornadoes do not form from convection thunderstorms, but only from air mass thunderstorms.
No. A twister is a tornado.
