Wolf Creek Hatchery in south-central Kentucky is trying to repopulate the species. Currently they are breeding the species in captivity. It's sad, but little can be done. The agricultural development around the area of Bayou de Chien has destroyed the relict darter's food supply and spawning grounds. Now it is secluded to few spots along the bayou.
