When you eat way too much and out of control that you feel dizzy or even get headaches also you might feel like you want to explodeCompulsive eating, also often called compulsive over-eating, is a type of an eating disorder. It is characterized by an over-eating (bingeing) food habit. People will begin to eat secretively or even non-stop, even when the person is not actually hungry. Many become overweight and develop obesity-related health conditions (heart problems, Diabetes, ect.) Their latent depression then blooms.

Compulsions/addictions of this sort begin as mechanisms to cope with overwhelming feelings. The (eating) behavior starts in order to soothe, comfort and partially anesthetise, but eventually makes the person's life unmanageable. The behavior takes on a life of its own and the person cannot seem to stop it, regardless of the fact that they know exactly how much damage it is causing. The addict is not unaware of calories, carbohydrates and portion control. They simply can. not. stop.

Compulsive eaters have powerful tools available to them for living a saner life, if they get themselves to a 12-step meeting, immediately. Groups like CEA-HOW, OA and FA know exactly how you feel. They are peers, not pros.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is different than Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). Both are mental conditions that create ridged obsessive tendencies. In OCD, it's expressed in external rituals. In OCPD, it's in demanding standards of perfection for the self and others.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead you to do repetitive behaviors (compulsions). With obsessive-compulsive disorder, you may realize that your obsessions aren't reasonable, and you may try to ignore them or stop them. But that only increases your distress and anxiety. Ultimately, you feel driven to perform compulsive acts in an effort to ease your stressful feelings.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder often centers around themes, such as a fear of getting contaminated by germs. To ease your contamination fears, you may compulsively wash your hands until they're sore and chapped. Despite your efforts, thoughts of obsessive-compulsive behavior keep coming back. This leads to more ritualistic behavior - and a vicious cycle that's characteristic of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
