If your motherboard becomes unstable,or you lose some functions like a USB port stops working, or you are tyring to take advatage of a new feature or component then you might need to upgrade the ROM BIOS chip by flashing it.

(1)The system hangs at odd times or during the boot. (2)Some motherboard functions have stopped working or are giving problems (3) You want to incorporate some new features or component on the board
In order to retain it in the RAM CMOS and change it as needed.
its helps with booting and will keep your pc from booting when there is an hardware issue,
so it wont overheat. You have to flash the bios every now and then because of it
Here is two reasons I've had to do it.
To update it (New hardware support).
BIOS had become corrupt.
Flashing the BIOS - is a method of updating the information held on the chip.
There are many reasons why you would want or need to flash a bio. You could do this to prove something.
you much flash the bios.
Assuming you mean "flash the CMOS", when the CMOS settings are so messed up, you cannot access the BIOS.
It's not really clear how much a BIOS costs since they're not marketed to end users but are sold to motherboard manufacturers. A BIOS is essentially a part of a motherboard. A BIOS is likely to be removable on a modern motherboard and technically it could be possible to replace a BIOS if it went bad or if for some reason it was to be upgraded, but for BIOS upgrades usually it is sufficient to flash (reprogram) the existing BIOS.
The real question is, how do you know your BIO's have a virus? If for some reason they really are corrupt. You will have to flash the firmware. If that's not possible the get another motherboard.
We can't format bios.it is permanent program.we can flash the bios by upgrading bios update....By ---Rajesh Arthimalla.
No, flashing the bios will not affect anything that you have in windows, unless you make a mistake with the flash and have to reinstall windows. Make sure you read your manual on the exact method of how to flash your bios, and only do this if you have problems, you just don't update them for no reason, this does not make the system run better, there are specific reasons to do this. You could actually cause problems. Most of the time, the reason you would do this is if you have a new processor that you want to put in and it needs the new version of the BIOS to run. Or if this is a fix to a problem that the MFG has found and this is a fix, and you have the same problem. Its not a cell phone, the BIOS should only be flashed for a reason, just want to make sure you understand this.
flash the bios
When you FIRST power on your computer, you should see a flash logo or a flash screen that lists your brand of BIOS. You may be able to push DEL or F12 on initial boot to access the BIOS settings.
That depends on the tool used to upgrade. Most tools provided by the manufacturer will not allow you to load an older version of the BIOS. A generic Flash utility may allow you to load an older version. Also, most Intel motherboards have a built-in BIOS repair tool that can load a BIOS from a floppy if the main BIOS is corrupted. This can usually be done safely with an older version of the BIOS.
Flash bios
Flash RAM is used for temporary data, such as in a USB drive. Flash ROM is used for bios and system files.
