Physics is the study of fundamental natural phenomenon and the interaction of natural forces. It can be considered a "general analysis of nature". The study of physics arises from the study of the known four fundamental forces; Gravity, the Electromagnetic Force, the Strong Force, and the Weak Force. The first two forces can be studied on a number of scales, while the last two are studied on very small scales.

The study of gravity and electromagnetism on a scale that is familiar to everyday experiences is called Classical Physics and includes the study of Classical Mechanics and Electromagnetism.

The study of natural phenomenon on extreme scales (very small or very large, with small being subatomic particles (ex. electrons) and large being galaxies) brings us to Modern Physics, which is mainly comprised of Quantum Physics and General Relativity. Quantum Physics studies natural interactions on the scale of subatomic particles and provides us with Quantum Mechanics (Quantum Mechanics and Classical Mechanics are branches of the more general Mechanics) and various other branches. General Relativity studies natural interactions on godly scales (those of planets and galaxies) and was famously developed by Einstein in 1915. Modern Physics also includes the study of the Weak and Strong Forces as they both deal with natural interactions on considerably small scales.

Interestingly enough, Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity are horrendously different theories which are at this moment trying to be unified into a single Unified Theory of Everything.
