Raster graphics is a display technology where the image is drawn (usually) from the top right of the screen area in horizontal lines until it appears at the bottom left corner one frame at a time. This is the primary type of displays output used on computers at this time.

In comparison a vector graphic is drawn by moving a light beam and dragging it across a display area using a set of instructions much like an oscilloscope.

For instance laser displays at music concerts are vector graphic animations but the TV image found at most football grounds is a raster display.
