This can come by the scriptures that are already in our possession, or through revelation from God. When one reads the scriptures that person may have the truth of them revealed to them by a feeling that it is true. If all were to have the truth revealed to them, and not put upon the scriptures their own interpretation, then there would only be one church and not many. Remember, the heavens are not silent to the honest in heart.
