It is important to Christians as it is the most important day of the year and most important event in Christianity. The Resurrection is very important. St. Paul said that if Christ is not risen that our faith is in vain. Christ came to rise from the dead, so what he did was more important than his actual arrival, which is what Christmas is. People generally celebrate Christmas more, but Easter is more important.
