Often (and rightly) called the golden years the welsh side were for all intents and purposes unbeatable. Many of the key players came together at this time making them one of the best teams in the world. Players such as JPR Williams - still considered to be the very best full back to don a Rugby jersey, Ray "runs through walls" Gravell was a centre that was formidable when attacking and had a massive tackle presents - Gareth Edwards and Barry (the King ) John paired up at halfback with Delme Thomas, Alan Martin, Jeff squires were in the engine house - Delme Thomas is still remembered for leading the Llanelli side against the all backs and winner 9-3. In the line out of the time he was considered one of the best front jumpers remembering of course that lifting was not allowed. And of course the pontypool from row who when taken on the lion tour were accredited with being the best front 3 in the world.
