John Paul II would only accept the Catholic Holy Bible as the Bible, the same Bible that has always been revered by Catholics and Catholic popes since The Bible was promulgated in the 4th century by the Church. By default, this would be the Latin Vulgate, St. Jerome's translation.

This would be expected and no one in the Church could disagree with his choice.
