Before a group can move into a working stage they go through a phase of transition. This phase is characterized by anxiety, defensiveness, resistance, control issues, conflicts between members and/or with leader and different behavioural problems. It can be difficult to move forward from this stage. The manner in which there can be steps taken is for members to share what is causing them struggles individually as well as with the group. The groups during transition stage are very challenging and unwilling to participate appropriately. This stage is ruled with anxiety and fears. Members must create a safe and trusting environment to overcome fears and senses of anxiety (Corey & Corey, 2010, p181).
The transition stage is the stage of a reaction where atoms have the highest energy. A covalent bond forms when atoms share electrons.
