Tricky (also spelled Trickey) Pond in Naples, which is just north of the NNW corner of Sebago Lake, is one of the cleanest lakes in Maine. Crystal-clear, with one of the best Secchi Disk Transparency (SDT) readings of any Maine lake: average 10.2 meters.

But Tricky Pond is a very small body of water, and not very accessible to anyone except homeowners on the pond.

The cleanest larger lake that is easily accessible to the public is Sebago Lake, approx. 12 miles northwest of Portland. Next cleanest large lake, based on SDT, is Moosehead Lake, approx. 40 miles northwest of Bangor.
