The African elephants have bigger ears. In fact, African elephants are also taller and heavier than Indian elephants. A large African elephant could be 12ft at the shoulder and weigh 8 tons. Mostly elephants walk at human speed, but in a stampede they could reach 25 mph, (that's faster than an Olympic sprinter.) In African elephants, both male and females have enlarged incisors which develop into the famous tusks. Whereas, in Indian elephants, tusks development is much greater in males than females. Confusingly, some Indian male elephants don't develop tusks so they can't rely on them to determine gender elephants. Another difference is in the shape of the back, the African elephants dips, and you could imaging a gigantic saddle fitting on their back. The Indian elephant on the other hand has a level or slightly convex back, saddling would be more difficult. If you get a close look at the trunk, the Indian elephant has only one 'finger' at the end of its trunk, whereas the African elephant has two lips or fingers. The African elephant is the largest living land animal, weighing up to 8.25 tons (7,500 kilograms) and standing 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters) at the shoulder. The Indian elephant) weighs about 6 tons (5,500 kilograms) with a shoulder height of 10 feet (3 meters). The African elephants have bigger ears. First of all:
There are 2 specie of African elephant, though the jungle elephant isn't considered an ordinary one. The common one that you normally see is bigger and lives in open spaces, only with many trees if it was forced there.
The jungle elephant has a different position of tusks, and are smaller to get through vegetation.
The difference is very simple:
Ears. Just look at them and you will get an idea. An African elephant had much bigger ones, and an Indian elephant has ones much more like wings without feathers on them. If the elephant has no ears for whatever reason, you should look at a picture. Compare the picture of an Indian to an African elephant, look at the eyes, posture and patterns on the skin as well as tusks.
African elephants are * larger * live longer * are different colors * ears are bigger
Indian elephants are smaller and have smaller ears.
The Indian elephant has two humps on the head and the African elephant has one. The African elephant is a lot larger than the Indian elephant
Indian elephant is not as big as African elephant. Indian elephant has smaller teeth than African elephant.
An Indian elephant has smaller ears than an African elephant.
The African is larger, with larger ears, and both sexes have tusks. Tusks are rare in female Asian elephants.
dont know duuuh
