Macronutrients make up the bulk of what we eat, they are the energy-giving component of what we eat, like the proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Micronutrients are the components of what we eat that are essential to good health. Examples, are vitamins and minerals.

Macro-nutrients are nutrients that provide calories or energy. Nutrients are substances needed for growth, metabolism, and for other body functions. Since "macro" means large, macro-nutrients are nutrients needed in large amounts. There are three macronutrients:

  • Carbohydrate
  • Protein
  • Fat

Unlike macro-nutrients which are needed in bigger amounts micro-nutrients only need a small amount in your diet. Theses nutrients help your organs grow.

· Vitamins

· Minerals

Macro-nutrients are needed in large amounts whilst micro-nutrients are needed in smaller amounts.

Nutrients needed in relatively large quantities are called macronutrients and those needed in relatively small quantities are called micronutrients. MICRO nutrients are known to be essential nutrients, meaning they are those which are dispensable to life processes, and what the body can-not make itself. In other words meaning these essential nutrients can only be obtained from the food in which we eat. Micro nutrients can be found in; VITAMINS,Minerals,Trace elements Macro nutrients These are present in our diets in large amounts, and make up the bulk of our diets. They can be found in; · Carbohydrates · Fat · Protein · Water

The main difference between micro and macro nutrients is that micro mainly comprise minerals and vitamins that are required in small quantities. Macronutrients include nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen.
