What is the difference shareware and illegal pirated software downloaded?

Shareware is a limited time trial under which you can try most if not all features of the software. At the end of the trial the software is locked down and prompts the user to buy the game if they like it.
Shareware usually leaves behind persistent data even after having been installed which stops the user from merely reinstalling the software to get a new time trial. Certain other, specialized, tools are required for 'cleaning' all traces of the software ever being installed on the computer.
Illegal pirated software is a fully functional version of the game shared illegally online. It usually have little to no restrictions, except for features requiring interactivity with an official central server, and isn't supported by the developers.
Shareware = Legal time trial of a software.
Pirated Software = Illegal use of a software you do not have the right to use.

Also some shareware software allows to use it during all time since it was installed, but you have read agreement to find out which conditions they apply. But the huge portion of shareware software does not allow to use it after trial period if it has it. And to have such software installed on your computer and use it is illegal.
