I think what you are refering to is a substance called salvia (Salvia divinorum is the plant's name). Salvia is a drug that makes user's "trip" or lose touch with reality. After smoking the effects begin almost instantly and can last for about 30 minutes. Some users may experience the effects longer.
I personally don't recommend using the drug because most of the trips are uncomfortable to users (like me), however others have a great time on it. If you choose to take it....all I can say is have fun.
