∙ 11y agoTurkeys contain tryptophan which is proven to cause drowsiness (it helps produce serotonin which plays a role in sleep). But soybeans, pork and parmesan have more tryptophan than turkey, so why do we get sleepy at Thanksgiving? Most likely because we consume a large amount of food consumed on the holiday.
