Mark 16:16 is part of the 'Long Ending' to Mark's Gospel. The Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8, with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. The 'Long Ending' was added much later, mainly to provide details of the risen Jesus.
Mark 16:16 is a strident warning that unless you believe and are baptised, you will be damned. No doubt this was very effective for wining converts.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
