Obesity is the state in which your body has too much body fat and is stored under the skin and it pretty much means you are fat and need to loose some wait, hate to be harsh but its the truth.

Obesity is a condition when somebody has more than 30% body fat for women (normal is 25%) and more than 23% for men (normal is 18-20%). Such people are treated obese.

Also, BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure for obesity and overweight. It is calculated by formula:

BMI = weight (kg) / height2 (m2) = 703 * weight (lb) / height2 (in2)

If you have BMI > 30, this extra body weight is already abnormal and could be dangerous for your health.

Why are some Americans very obese?

Many Americans now a days do not get enough exercise and do not eat healthy, resulting in obesity. However, just because a person is obese does not mean they are of extreme fatness or unhealthiness. There is a flaw in the BMI system, muscular people, when positioned right, are considered obese, and even tall people who are of a little overweightness are considered obese. So of the 30% of Americans that are obese, about 5-10% of the people fall into the flaw category, meaning really about 20-25% of Americans are obese due to fat.

How do you spell obesely?

Obesely is an adverb and you've spelled it correctly. Use caution, however, with linking this adverb to a similar meaning string of words. For example, Sally was very obesely overweight. "Very overweight" already means obese. "Obesely overweight" seems redundant, meaning that it is repetitive (an error that writers should avoid). It may be better to pick one or the other in writing, either use "obese" or use "overweight". To indicate "very obese", doctors use the words "grossly obese" or "grossly overweight".
