MESSENGER is the current mission to Mercury. The only other mission to that planet was Mariner 10.
Because the MESSENGER satalite launched by NASA has only just started orbiting...
No satellites have landed probes on Mercury, nor are any expected prior to 2016.The spacecraft Mariner 10 flew to Mercury in 1974 and 1975, coming within 703 kilometers (437 miles) of the surface. However, Mariner 10 was only able to photograph one side of Mercury, the same side being in sunlight on each of three fly-by's.The NASA spacecraft MESSENGER flew by Mercury in 2008 and 2009, and has been mapping the entire surface since it began orbiting the planet in 2011.
Currently the only thing orbiting Mercury is MESSENGER, a space probe built by NASA.

A spacecraft visited in 2011, not 2012. There is currently one spacecraft in orbit around Mercury. NASA's MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry and Ranging (MESSENGER) probe. It was launched on August 3, 2004 and entered orbit on March 18, 2011. NASA has announced that it will extend the mission longer in the harsh environments of Mercury. For more information check the MESSENGER wikipedia article.
You see, as it turns out the whole planet of earth is orbiting the sun, not just NASA. We have been effectively orbiting the sun since it has existed. So to answer your question, yes, NASA will be orbiting the sun, has orbited the sun, and is currently orbiting it.
the first encounter with another planet. it was a spacecraft sent by NASA to venus. it measured venus' temperature and is now thought to be orbiting the sun.
i think its 1

for human space flight they use the Space shuttle.
