I think you are referring to the Universal OBD (or OBD2) test port. This is

the plug under the dash that you plug the OBD code tester into.

It may also be referred to as the 16-Pin Data Link Connector (DLC).

How do you test glow plugs in a ford transit?

You can test each glow plug while still installed in the engine. Just get a test light and connect it to the positive terminal of the battery and touch the point of the test light to each glow plug terminal. If the light lights up the glow plug is good if not it is bad. You can replace the one or more that are bad or replace them all since they may not be too far behind.

Why is their no spark on the number 1 cylinder on a Chevy 350 with HEI distributor?

The most likely causes are either a bad plug or bad wire. Take the electrical circuit apart one by one and work backward from the plug. Pull the spark plug boot off the plug and push a test light into where the plug head would be, making sure to have the tip against the metal in the boot's clip. Spin the engine, but don't start it. You're just looking for spark. If the test light doesn't light, you have no spark to the plug. Next, take the plug wire off the distributor and put the tip of the test light against the metal on the distributor cap where the wire was connected and spin the engine again. If the light still doesn't light, then it is most likely the distributor cap. If it does light up, then you have a bad plug wire. or it may be your distributor module.

Is there a test to see which glow plugs may not be working?

This test will determine what glow plugs are working. ( It will not determine a partially burnt plug ). Disconnect the glow plug wires at the plugs .( You must unplug all of them for this test to work ) Connect a test light to the positive terminal of the battery. Touch the electrical connector at the end of the glow plug with the test light. If the light goes on the glow plug is working. Make sure you touch only the electrical connector on the plug. If you touch any other part (metal) of the plug the test light will light giving you a false reading.

How do you identify a broken spark plug?

take a test light. ground the test light to the battery then take the test light and move it around the suspect spark plug if the plug wire or spark plug are cracked or defect the spark will go to the test light and you will see the spark. if you don't see any spark its not broken. You can also use CheckSpark to quickly evaluate all your plugs and identify bad plugs and wires in seconds.

What does glow plug flashing mean in Jag 2 liter diesel?

I imagine that if the light is blinking the engine most likely has a glow plug out. This can often be tested by removing the preheat harness from the time/relay and using a test light. Attach the clip of the test light to the positive connection of the vehicles battery. Then probe the terminal of each glow plug, you might have to remove insulators and things to get to them. The result, if it lights up its good, if it does not, replace.

How do you know if heater plugs are dead?

HiMost modern cars have one heater plug per cylinder. An easy way to check if they are working and working correctly. is to first take them out. Use a heavy electrical cable such as jump leads and connect them to a battery. Connect the negative to the body of the heater plug, and tough the electrical connection with the positive. The plug will become red hot so be careful. If the tip of the plug becomes red it is OK .Don't hold the connection to long as you my burn out your heater plug. If the plug tip glows not at the tip, but in the middle the plug is defective, and should be replaced.Or alternatively simply change the heater plugs every second year if you live in a cold climate.Or consult your dealer for more information.I test them this way without removing them from the engine, disconnect the electrical connection to each glow plug, attach a test light to the positive side of the battery, touch the test light to each glow plug electrical connection, if the test light lights up,theglow plug is good, if the test light does not light up the glow plug is burned out.

Where are the glo plugs on a f250 6.0 powerstroke?

The glow-plugs are located under the valve covers. There is a single wire that comes out of each injector harness that powers each glow-plug. Disconnect the single wire from the glow plug. Connect the gator clip of a test light to a positive and probe the glow plug terminal with the test light. If test light does not come on the glow plug is bad.

What would make a 1995 supercharged riviera run on 4 cylinders the coils and ignition module are fine and there is no ses light.?

check for injector pulse on all 6-inj plug ins with test light. light should flash when engine is running. If not, use test light to check for ground at suspect inj plug ins. Also dble check for spark at all coil towers, and spark plug both. You have to check the back plugs from underneath the vehicle. Verify plug wires hooked up in correct order.
