First, there is the "moral" probelm of being immortal. Winnie will one day die, while the Tucks will live forever. It is the dilema of whether Winnie should follow the path of life as it naturally is, or live forever like the Tuck's do.

Another problem that rises is the man in the yellow suit going after Winnie, but then Mae Tuck killing the man. Mae is set to be executed, but since she cannot die they break her out of jail. Winnie takes Mae's place in jail. A message here is not to be afraid of death. In the epilogue, Jesse stands over Winnie's grave almost a century later.
