ADD is no longer considered and existing disorder: Instead, psychiatrists diagnose ADHD (with the 'Hyperactive' part). This is primarily due to the fact that even those originally thought to have ADD show hyperactive symptoms. A patient with ADHD is diagnosed as being either Hyperactive/Impulsive, Attention-Deficit, or a combination of both - meaning that even someone diagnosed as Hyperactive/Impulsive will also have the Attention-Deficit part (and vice verse), but not to the extent that he/she is diagnosed with a combination (mainly equal balance). Concerning ADHD, the common average is 5%, although this is varied based on the method/study used to come up with this average. I've even heard 1 in 10, and as low as 2 in 100.... But 5% is the general known amount.
ADHD is more commonly diagnosed and treated in kids. Aside from this, both children and adults generally manifest the disease in a very similar fashion.
Ritalin is essentially speed, it's a drug. If you DON'T have ADHD you shouldn't take it. It can be addictive so you shouldn't give it to your children without consulting a doctor first.
Some vitamin supplements that are helpful to someone with adhd are fish oil, melotonin and zinc. Some children with adhd have lower levels of zinc that children without adhd and zinc supplements have been should to help improve adhd symptoms. Fish oil may improve mental skills in children and melotonin is a natural sleep aid and can decrease your child's excess energy.
I have not seen a case where a child with ADHD has been charge more for auto insurance that any child of the same sex and age. This is a good question because the auto application does ask if any drivers have any disability and ADHD could be proven to cause more of a risk of an accident. Due to the attention problems that ADHD cause, and insurance company could easily make the case that a child with diagnosed ADHD would be at a higher risk of having an accident than a child without such a disability. I believe that insurance companies would have to reduce the rates of children without such disorder and make the rates even out in order to make it basically even to them overall but reduce those without ADHD and increase those with ADHD in order to be fair.
Children with ADHD can be fidgety, have a very short attention span, be impulsive, and have difficulty completing tasks

YesThe slang for Ridilin on the streets is know as "poor mans coke" the effect for a person without ADHD can be similar to that of coke. HOWEVER for those with ADHD the effect will not give them the same effect in fact it will do the opposite, obviously because that is what Ridilin is prescribed for(ADHD).
It makes a regular person without ADHD feel like they do have ADHD. Probably because of the "wired" feeling, since it is a stimulant. Those with ADHD actually feel a paradoxical effect and feel calmer and focused as opposed to so "all over the place" per se. I have ADHD and take Adderall XR.
