Mary (the mother of Jesus) and Elizabeth (the mother of John the Baptist) were cousins:-
Luk 1:34-36, 57, 59-60 MKJV [v.34] ThenMary said to the angel, How shall this be, since I do not know a man? [ie a virgin] [v. 35] And the angel answered and said to her [Mary], The Holy Spirit shall come on you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you. Therefore also that Holy One which will be born of you [Mary] shall be called Son of God. [v. 36] And behold, your cousinElizabeth also conceived a son in her old age. And this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
[v.57] And the time was fulfilled toElizabeth for her to bear. And she bore ason. [v. 59] And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and were calling itZacharias, after his father's name. [v. 60] And his mother answered and said,No, but he shall be called John.
Just one gospel claims a kinship between Mary and Elizabeth, and therefore between Jesus and John the Baptist. Luke's Gospel (Luke 1:36) says that Mary and Elizabeth were cousins. Elsewhere, John seems not to know or recognise Jesus. Matthew 11:3 even has John ask of Jesus whether he was the one to come. John 1:31 has John say of Jesus, "And I knew him not ..."
The kinship of Jesus and John depends on Mary and Elizabeth being cousins, but Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) believes that Elizabeth and Zechariah were literary creations by the author of Luke's Gospel.

Elizabeth (Elisabeth) was not a prophetess. She did belong to a rather noteworthy family. She was a descendant from Aaron, wife of Zachariah the priest, mother of John the Baptist. She was a cousin of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
A:According to Luke's Gospel, Jesus was related to John the Baptist. His mother Mary was the cousin of John's mother Elizabeth. There are several reasons to doubt this, including that John's Gospel says that the Baptist did not even know Jesus.
Yes, his mother Mary's sister Elisabeth and husband Zacharias, parents of his cousin John the Baptist. Luke Chapter 1.
Zacharias was a Levite and was not related to Jesus, who was from the tribe of Judah. Jesus and John the Baptist were related through Zacharia's wife, Elizabeth and Mary, Jesus' mother.
A:Luke's Gospel says that John the Baptist's mother, Elizabeth, was a cousin of Mary, mother of Jesus, but thisis unlikely to have been the case. Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) says that both Elizabeth and Zacharias were literary creations by the author of Luke's Gospel.
The name of Jesus aunty was Elizabeth, she was the mother of John the baptist.
Elisabeth was the wife of Zacharias, the mother of John the Baptist, and the cousin of Mary the mother of Jesus. It tells about her in Luke 1:5.
Mary is the mother of Jesus, Elizabeth is the mother of John the Baptist.
John's Mother was Elisabeth from the tribe of Aaron, married to a priest Zacariahs. Elisabeth was barren and in an advance old age. She became pregnant by the grace of God and hence come John. BTW Elisabeth is the Cousin of Mary who likewise conceived by the grace of God and brought forth Jesus.
It is John the baptist , as his mother Elizabeth and Mary were cousins.
