Mitosis is how non-sex cells divide - and is essential for the creation of new cells. All the somatic (non-sex) cells in the body divide by mitosis - including skin cells - we would not live long without mitosis.
Mitosis is one, if not the most important cellular process in animals. Mitosis allows all somatic cells (not sperm and egg) to replicate. What happens is the cell goes through a series of phases:
Interphase:
G1- Growth and development
S- DNA is synthesized and replicated
G2- More Growth and Development
Mitosis
Prophase
Prometaphase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Cytokenesis
Mitosis is only a small portion of the cell cycle. During mitosis, the chromosomes, which contain every bit of your DNA which makes you unique because of the base pairing of the nitroginous bases, align in the middle of the cell. They are alligned by a structure called the Mitotic Spindle, made of microtubles. The microtubules attach to the Chromosomes in a specific spot called the kinetochore. Each chromosome has two of these. During Anophase of Mitosis, the Chromomes begin to be pulled apart by the microtubules, which originiate from the centrosomes on each end of the cell. In telophase, the sister chromatids are almost over to the other end of the cell. Cytokenisis finally cleaves the cytoplasm making two daughter cells that are IDENTICAL.
WIthought Mitosis, we wouldn't grow and develop. We would remain as single celled organisms, instead of the trillions of cells that make up our bodies. Mitosis is important in making sure that we grow and develop into full organisms.
It's the way that every one of your trillions of cells came into existence.
Mitosis allow for growth and development, as well as the replacement of worn and damaged cells.
Cells that divide by mitosis have identical genetic material.
Mitosis occurs in body cells but not sex cells. It means cells can reproduce themselves easily as many die each day and need to be replaced
Mitosis is a cell division process. Its significance is that it helps cells maintain their identities since the new daughter cells have equal number of chromosomes.
Asexual reproduction. The process is call mitosis.
mitosis
Chromosomes duplicate in a process called mitosis.
Process of mitosis.
Mitosis is the process that divides the cell nucleus and it's contents.
Asexual reproduction. The process is call mitosis.
mitosis
Mitosis is the process that produces new 2N cells from 2N cells Meiosis is the process that produces 1N reproductive cells.
The state that the cell is in when it isn't undergoing the process of mitosis is Interphase.

mitosis
DNA replication is the process that occurs when mitosis is not in process. Mitosis divides chromosomes in the cell nucleus.
Mitosis takes place in meristematic cells.
Cytokinesis.
sporangium bears number of spores which are formed by process of asexual reproduction by process of mitosis
Tumors grow in the process of mitosis
This process is known as Mitosis
