Step on egg. Then just stick it on the wood with normal Ponal Wood Glue or any wood glue. The trick is that the eg pieces must not be too big (round). It is easy when you've glued it on, just to press in the middle of the bigger pieces (1.3x1.3cm) and it will 'snap' in the middle. Use enough glue... put glue on wood and place pieces like a puzzle on glue. Looks beautiful when used with DeWinklemans Choc-coloured tiles and grouted brown. Once it is grouted, all the little holes are also brown. Really nice!

Mostly the tesserae were cut to about 8mm - 12mm pieces. The pattern was scratched or painted onto the floor and then using a mix called Pozzolan as the cement they would trowel small amounts onto the pattern and place the tesserae in the cement. The floors were then ground down and then polished/waxed.
