Could be that some engine oil has gotten into the gas chambers, and being heavier than gasoline, ignited and trying to burn, caused the engine to stall, and exhausted the remains out the tail pipe. Could be cracked engine block.

I believe the battery light is on because the RPM does not hit the 1400 rpm mark. The smoking is from the exhaust system being clogged or the air flow through the system. My bet is the exhaust. With the engine running, you should not be able to hold your hand blocking the exhaust system. If so, look at the exhaust.

I think on the DD200 it is wired to the carbon brushes. Once they wear down to a certain point the light comes on. After that they wear down further until a pin pops out cutting power to the motor.
