There are many mountains and plateaus, most of which lie in the western China. As we know, Tibetan Plateau is in western China and for its high altitude there is a clear division in geography.
On the other hand, the economic developments of eastern China and western China are very different. I think this is another division. But we usually think it is the terrain that separates eastern China from the western China.
If we dig deep, I think the economic development and cultural difference also matter.
