"The Wizard of Oz" (1939). Buddy Ebsen was cast as the Tin Man. The make-up for the Tin Man contained aluminum dust, which coated Ebsen's lungs. He also had an allergic reaction to it. One day he was unable to breathe and was rushed to hospital. The part was immediately recast and MGM gave no public reason why Ebsen was replaced.
In the second take of the scene when the Wicked Witch of the West leaves Munchkinland, part of Margaret Hamilton's cape caught in the platform when the burst of fire appeared. Her make-up heated up causing second and third degree burns on her hands and face. It was later discovered that one of the key components of her make-up was copper.
"Planet of the Apes" (1968). John Chambers won an honorary OSCAR for outstanding make-up achievement. Before this film, most film creatures wore cheap rubber suits and could not vocalize much. Chambers changed all that with the Ape make-up.

It would probably be made in two movies. I would imagine they would make the break when Bella opens her eyes after being changed. As far as I know, Summit doesn't have the rights yet to make the movie. It wouldn't be out until 2011. Note, none of this is official.

People make up scary movies because it can be a good way to face what we fear the most. Often times horror movies are mean to convey a message about society and the ways in which it's wrong. The original Grimms fairy tales were terrifying and meant to scare kids into behaving. Scary movies span the course of history. Sometimes people just like the feeling of being scare with the safety of knowing it's only a movie.

Of course it is. Historical fiction is a very popular genre. It's also okay to write stories set in a history that is partially or completely make believe. What you cannot do is make up history and present it as authentic, researched history.
