Mentor services. These are often charitable organisations that provide guidance and advice for the person and equally as important for their careers as well.
In most cases but not all, a "Needs Assessment" is advisable. Normally created by a health care professional it will out line the good and bad day life cycle for the person and their carers. This should also inform other departments and support networks. In some cases Government benefit departments may need involvement to assist in independent living structures. As the issue of "Mental illness" is very broad and has depths to to each each type then the additional supports becomes almost customised for the individual and their care network.

They are directly related. A person with good social health tends to have better mental health than those with poor social health. Being around friends frequently tends to keep people happier and healthier (mentally and physically). This is not a law written in stone and there are many mentally healthy people with poor social health and many mentally ill people with good social health.

The mentally ill need access to a mental health facility that can help not just the severely mental ill, but the people with minor disorders, also. For the ones that require it, affordable medication. Support groups are a wonderful social tool because they take away the "I'm alone factor". As far as health services, a hospital that could recognise mental disorders and give very short-term treatment would be good and also, access to tests that would give a more accurate diagnosis to help determine causes and therefore more effective treatments. Chemical testing is not widely available to most people and it should be.
