The carbon cycle is a natural biogeochemical cycle whereby carbon as CO2 is transferred from the atmosphere to the land and ocean, where it resides in another form before returning to the atmosphere as CO2. The principal processes involved in transfer from the atmosphere are the dissolution of CO2 in the oceans and the uptake of CO2 by the photosynthesis of green plants. The processes involved in return to the atmosphere are the release of CO2 from the ocean in regions in which the surface of the ocean has become saturated with CO2 and the oxidation of organic matter by respiration or fire, which essentially reverses the photosynthetic process:

6CO2 + 12H2O ⇔ C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H2O

Are photosynthesis and cellular respiration the two main processes that make up the nitrogen cycle?

carbon cycle

What are two biological processes that transfers carbon?

The two main biological processes in the carbon cycle are photosynthesis (which absorbs carbon) and cellular respiration (which moves it back to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide).

Which biogeochemical cycle is least dependent on biotic processes?

the Carbon cycle

What two cellular processes are involved in the oxygen-carbon cycle?

The two cellular processes that are involved in the oxygen-carbon cycle would be cellular respiration and photosynthesis. These are processes done by both plants and animals.

Which biochemical cycle is least dependent on biotic processes?

Carbon

Photosynthesis and resporation are important processes in which two biogeologic cycles?

respiration is the reverse of photosynthesis and are the important processes of carbon cycle and water cycle.

What Carbon moves through the carbon cycle in all of the processes except what?

Carbon moves through the carbon cycle in all processes, except for the burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuel burning releases carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, which disrupts the natural carbon cycle by increasing the concentration of CO2, a greenhouse gas, in the atmosphere.

List four important biogeochemical processes that cycle nutrients?

The Water Cycle, The Carbon and Oxygen Cycle, The Nitrogen Cycle, and The Phosphorus Cycle.

What two processes fuel the carbon cycle?

Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

phoyosynthesis and cellular respiration

What is the carbon sequenstriation?

well.......the carbon cylcle goes through two processes. one is i short term cycle. the other is a long term cycle

What is the major driving force of the oxygen cycle?

the main two processes are plant photosynthesis, which takes carbon dioxide out of the air, and plant and animal respiration which put carbon dioxide back into the air.
