Pretty much the only way to get signed to a major record label is to start out small. Get signed to an independent record label and move your way through the ranks. OR... Generate enough interest in your band through constant gigs and touring to spark the interest of a major label, get an A & R rep… to scout you, blow their minds with an incredible performance(good sound, awesome stage performance, incredible audience reactions, etc) and wait for the phone call/call THEM... It's really all about getting your name out there and being a great band that plays what people want to hear. (MORE)
Jive turkey was a derogatory slang word in African AmericanVernacular English, used to refer to someone who was unreliable, made empty promises, or who was full of bluster. The insult becamewidely known among white Americans in the 1970s, particularly viatelevision comedies (e.g., The Jeffersons). T…he term has been usedby later television characters (e.g., Homer Simpson) in order todemonstrate that they are out of touch with modern youth trends, culture, and language. Jive turkey, however, was already fallinginto disuse when it was spoken by supposedly "hip" characters inthe 1970s, such as George Jefferson, and later in 2008 by CorneliusBanks (Tim Meadows) in the movie "Semi-Pro." Thehumorous/interesting sound of the term has also resulted in itbeing use in complimentary fashion, often by those who don't knowwhat it means and so make up their own meaning. The term has alsobeen translated to mean a white person who can dance. Turkey, beingwhite meat, represents the white person. Jive is a form of dance. (MORE)

Sincere, honest, truthful are all antonyms of "jive", when the word is not being used to with reference to jive dance, jive music, or the slang used by jazz musicians. If you're doing 1950's rock and roll jive rather than modern jive, I can help you :) Something cool, and fitting rather than loose or too clingy. I find that it's best to wear something that can be tucked in and with freedom of movement because you don't want your belly on show :P My favourite thi…ng to wear to jive in casually is a pair of fairly high waisted cropped jeans and a checked shirt, which i tuck in and wear a belt with. The loosely fitting shirt allows me to be cool but there's no excess fabric in the way to get caught on anything. So, tucking in, probably jeans and a loose shirt, and regarding shoes... if you're a guy then something like brothel creepers or even converse, and if you're a girl something with little grip on the sole and that's comfortable to jump around in! I wear women's black and white brogues, and find they're excellent for dancing in. (MORE)

Bo Diddley never recorded the song, "Hand Jive." It was first recorded by Johnny Otis in 1958 then covered by numerous groups, including Eric Clapton in the mid-70s. The "beat" called the Hand Jive is comprised of elements of the "Bo Diddley Beat," which is why there is sometimes confusion.
