There are modeling schools like John Robert Powers you can attend. However, there is no formal education or training needed to become a model. Agencies prefer models with little to no experience because once they are signed, the agency will train them for free.

Where can you gain experience for modeling?

Modeling schools are not necessary to break into the modeling field. Many modeling agencies frown upon such companies because they often have to break bad habits. Agencies prefer new and inexperienced models and will train them for free when they have offered them a contract so there are other ways to approach pursuing the modeling industry. Modeling schools, classes and conventions "sell" people their dreams for a large price and as long as you are willing to pay the money, they will accept anyone, including those that don't even have the real potential to begin with. There are no shortcuts to modeling. Modeling schools cannot guarantee that you will get signed and become successful. If you finish their schooling and still do not get signed, then you are out of luck as well as a lot of money. Stick to the free way by attending open casting calls and sending your information and pictures to legit modeling agencies.

Do you need school for male modeling?

You do not need to attend a modeling school or take classes to become a model (male or female). Agencies will train new models for free if they feel your look is marketable. An "agency" which requires that you take specific "classes" is almost certainly a scam, and should be avoided.
