Another type of concentrating solar collector that optically reflects and focuses the suns incident solar energy onto a small receiving area using mirrors or lenses is called a Solar Dish Collector, or more technically, a point focusing collector. By concentrating the sunlight to a single spot, the intensity of the receiving solar energy is magnified many times over with each mirror or lens acting as a single sun shining directly at the same focal point on the dish meaning that more overall power per square meter of dish is achieved.
Water heats best when the sun's rays can strike it at 90 degrees. With a static display on a household roof this happens at one time only a day, though the angled rays are almost as hot for several hours. There are models that use glass tubes that pick up more heat from the sun at an angle.
Most solar panels are rectangular in shape. The main reason for this is to be able to get the best use of an area. There are solar panels that are in other shapes also. They don't have to be rectangular to work.
Shapes that float best on water include, anything that is light, and it also depends on the items/ object's density.
To focus the radiation onto the target, the best result is when the lens is at 90° to the sun. To do this the collector needs to tilt and swivel to face the sun.
When you install solar hot water panels or evacuated tubes on your roof and you get hot water free, that is one of the best examples of how you can take advantage of solar energy and also cut down on the amount of gas or electricity that you use.

well that's a good question
solar wind hydro are all possibilities if living in the mountains. Maybe solar is not the best but a wind turbine or water turbine would be possible. Depends on where you live and is water available is it windy etc

Solar Collectors use the greenhouse effect to capture the sun's energy. It is able to harvest the suns energy in the form of heat. Greenhouses use air to transfer heat and Collectors use water or a combination of water and antifreeze. Solar Panels (or solar panel kits) are very much different.. They convert solar radiation into electricity and they work best in direct sunlight at a low temperature. Large PV (Photo Voltaic) systems are still quite costly. They produce DC current and require inverters to convert the DC to compatible AC power. The AC power is often connected to the grid so that solar energy may be sold back to the power company. Due to the reimbursement tariffs it makes sense to feed all the solar power into the public grid and continue consuming household electricity at much lower rates.
There are many of many types of solar heating on the market now , talking from experience the best to fit is a good solar pannel and the right solar cylinder tips are to get a solar registered plumber to do the job if in northern ireland i recommened AD Plumbing & Heating LTD for the job.
