In Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem, Edna uses simple, strong emotions that are heightened and affected by the poem's rhythm. For example, when the poem says "Yet there isn't a train goes by all day But I hear its whistle shrieking", the emotion is sad and mysterious and then it gets lowered and affected in the next paragraph, when the poem says "All night there isn't a train goes by, Though the night is still for sleeping and dreaming". The poem shifts down to a more sad and hopeless feeling. And then in the end the emotion climaxes with a high brave happy emotion when it says "Yet there isn't a train I wouldn't take, No matter where it's going". Edna uses rhythm in to change and heighten and affect the emotions and feelings throughout the entire poem.

In the poem "Travel" by Edna St. Vincent Millay, the strong emotions evoked are those of longing, wanderlust, and a sense of freedom. Millay's words convey a deep desire to explore new places and experiences, while also reflecting on the transient nature of life and the passage of time.
