Answer 1
The government says it started because they were a threat to major countries due to their weapons of mass destruction (WMD) however once we invaded their country it was apparent we were all lied to because they possessed no wmds., then the US government had another excuse in which they proclaimed that the country was a safe haven for terrorist organizations such as the Mujaheddin or Osama's alleged terrorist group. I believe the US government had been fooled by at the time president Bush which was trying to carry out his fathers (president Bush senior) agenda which was lost a decade earlier operation dessert storm in the 90s. We couldn't legally invade Another Country due to the UN's treaties we signed unless they attacked our home land first so the government may have plotted a setup in which involved toppling our trade centers in new york on 9/11/01 and the pentagon bombings then blamed the opposing country for the attack. Honestly the planes could not have possibly brought the buildings down with just gas and cargo, however the us government claims they were passenger jumbo jets which they were also not. The pentagon is too low of a structure to be accurately hit by even the best pilots in the world. The us government sees revenue to be made in the war however they were wrong about that too it put our country in a tremendous amount of debt. Since Obama has been in office we have stopped all ongoing operations and are currently working in bringing all troops home however it can't be done in a short time as we learned in previous conflicts because with a country's security crippled it leaves room for insurgents to take over control.
Answer 2
There is no clear answer as to the causes of the Iraq War, but more on that can be read at the Related Question. Regardless, the point of the Iraq War was not to capture Saddam Hussein; it was merely a side-mission or objective. The main reason for invasion was alleged to be WMDs and when no such weapons were found, the United States defaulted on the idea of creating a decent government. Finally, the United States no longer has an active military presence in Iraq. The last American troops were withdrawn in 2011.
Saddam Hussein
No. When operation Desert Storm concluded in 1991, Hussein was still in power. He remained Iraq's leader until shortly after the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Marsh Arabs speak Iraqi Arabic. (They still exist since Saddam Hussein's genocide against them was not entirely successful.)
Operation Iraqi Freedom was the codename for the American Invasion of Iraq. The causes of that invasion are, as of yet, not clear. The government of the United States has posited that it was to find Weapons of Mass Destruction and remove Saddam Hussein from power. Others have stipulated that it was on account of American desires for Iraqi Oil.
Because after the coalition forces had swept in through Kuwait in the South and flanked Saddam from the West, and had managed to surround Saddams army in Iraq, George Bush decided to withdraw the troops from Iraq instead of pushing into Iraq and annihlating Saddams army, which was their original objective. Because he didn't, Saddam ended up still in power, and caused many more deaths. It wasn't until the 2nd gulf war he was captured and executed.
Saddam Hussein was executed (hanged) December 30, 2006....so no.
I think he is still alive. But I hope that I am wrong!
Saddam Hussein
There are a few members of Saddam Hussein's family that are still alive. His widow, Sajida Talfah, is 77 years old, his daughter Raghad is 46 years old, and his daughter Rana is 45 years old.
Saddam Hussein (now deceased) and George Herbert Walker Bush (still going strong).
Saddam Hussein never resigned. If you read the transcripts from the criminal proceedings against him (constituted by the US-led Iraqi Authorities), Saddam Hussein repeatedly argues that as the still-reigning President of Iraq, he declares these proceedings in violation of Iraqi law. Saddam was pushed out of power by military force, but never officially resigned his presidency.

The Government is responsible for the child soldiers. There is still no law saying that child soldier are illegal. The people in charge of these armies are Joseph Kony and the LRA, Saddam Hussein.
This is the closest comment President Bush (then Governor) ever made refurring to Saddam Hussein re his father. War with Iraq Dubya had actually been planning to go after Saddam Hussein for years. As a matter of fact, almost two years before the Pentagon/WTC attacks, George gave an interview to the BBC in November 1999 which laid out his plans for his father's antagonist during the Gulf War: REPORTER: Would Saddam Hussein outlive a second President Bush? GOVERNOR BUSH: [Laughs] Very good question. Uh, I think the interesting thing -- [laughs] -- um, uh -- Saddam Hussein, uh -- really did last longer than anybody envisioned. He did. REPORTER: Including your father. GOVERNOR BUSH: Including my father, absolutely right. [...] No one envisioned Saddam, at least at that point in history, no one envisioned him still standing. It's time to finish the task.
Today, very little though some still support his final regime. His main strength was in controlling and having the support of the armed forces and through them the finances of the country.
Iraq war: Why we fought: our oil was in danger, Iraq invaded Kuwait; wanted to stop Saddam Hussein from giving Al-Qaeda weapons of mass destruction What we wanted: to get Kuwait out of Iraq, wanted to get Saddam Hussein out of power What we got: got Kuwait out of Iraq, saved our oil, we freed Iraq from dictatorship your answer is what someone who supported Bush would say. all that isn't true. Yes some parts are true, but Kuwait was the least of the reason we were and still are over there. The whole Saddam deal was a huge set up. America put Saddam in power.
