A person will come out of a seizure. There is nothing that you can do to stop a seizure. You just have to let it run its course. There is no need to panic and it will not help anyway. You just have to make sure that they don't do something to injure themselves, like fall and hit something, but other than that there is not much you can do while they are actually having the seizure.
Some seizures may last longer than others, but most will only last for a few minutes and then it takes a bit of time for someone to come back to a more normal state. A person may come out of one and be very tired and disorientated or have a headache, so they may want to rest after it. All you can do is just make sure they are ok, and be reassuring for them.
If someone gets recurring seizures one after another for an extended period or time, like 20 minutes or half an hour, then you should call for medical assistance. Usually though a person will just have one seizure and will soon be ok and does not need any medical attention, just ordinary care and attention from those that are around them.
the only thing you can do to help is to let the seizure run it course
After having a seizure a person will become tired and feel worn down. Upon coming out of a seizure a person can be confused, disoriented and lack the ability to concentrate. Seizures can have many other effects as well depending on the person, type of seizure and severity of the seizure.
Yes, electroconvulsive therapy can cause a seizure in people that have never had a seizure. However, beyond that, general electrical stimulation on the body (such as with a TENS machine) should not induce a seizure in a person who is not an epileptic.
When it happened. How long it lasted. The type of seizure. How the person felt before and after the seizure. Did they have an aura? Any potential reasons for the seizure. If you are the person who has had the seizure, some of the information can obviously only be got by someone who saw the seizure, so you will need to talk to them. If no one saw it, just record what you know. If you are recording details of another person's seizure, then you will need to get some information from them.
A petit mal seizure will not kill a person.
In most cases the answer is no. However, a person can have a very mild seizure, which they are aware of and so they are aware of their surroundings. The seizure would not even be noticeable to anyone else.
That is a simple analogy or what is happening during a seizure. There is constant electrical activity in the brain. When it gets disrupted a bit, a person can have a seizure.
Some partial seizures are associated with an altered level of consciousness, even though the person might appear to be awake and his or her eyes may be open. In this type of seizure, called a complex partial seizure, the affected person is unaware of the people nearby during the event, is not aware of his or her own movements or behaviors during the seizure, and does not remember the seizure after it occurs. When the person having a partial seizure is aware of having a seizure, is aware of his or her surroundings and remembers the event afterward, the seizure is classified as a simple partial seizure.
Generally if it is a grand mal seizure (now known as tonic-clonic) where the person has fallen and is in convulsions, you do let the person "seize." By that is meant letting the seizure run its course. Do not try to restrain the person. Make sure the person will not strike or knock anything over that is nearby and never try to place anything in the person's mouth.
it all depends on what triggers your seizures. its weird, but sugar triggers my seizures. i have had no sugar for eleven months and have not had one at all. You may never have another one again. Talk to your doctor and see what triggered your seizure.
Sure.
true
There are many forms of seizure and a person having one can behave in different ways. It is usually very clear that they are not drunk but are having some other problem, namely a seizure. There are many ways of knowing that someone is drunk, and it would be very obvious that they will have been taking alcohol. A seizure is not like that.
