You should immediately see a doctor because the sting could become infected and eventually come to your blood stream and kill you. They are rarely fatal but are known to be one of the most well known killers.

The best immediate treatment is to apply heat to the wounded area. Stingray venom is protein-based, so applying heat will decrease the pain and, to some extent, deactivate the venom. Use the hottest water the victim can stand, or any other source of heat that is available. The heat should be maintained as long as the wound is extremely painful or until the victim is delivered into the hands of medical personnel. If the victim experiences only minor bleeding and no symptoms beyond the normal pain associated with a stingray sting, then when the heat has done its job (which you can check by simply removing the heat from the affected area briefly), apply antibiotic ointment and a bandage. If the bleeding is significant or the victim badly lacerated, the injury should be treated by a medical professional.

If the victim experiences any symptoms other than pain and bleeding (for example hives, muscle cramping, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, etc.), then there may be an allergic reaction to the venom. This can be a life-threatening emergency and the victim should be transported to a medical facility immediately.
