Before writing a book, it is useful to map out the plot in advance so you don't get stuck this way. Publishing a book is very difficult, and it can take a long time to get your writing up to publishing standards. A good rule of thumb is that your first million words are just for practice. As for your current story, consider what the main theme or plot is and how you want it to tie up, and write every chapter with that in mind.
