∙ 12y agoGenerally speaking, on the EHV system, distance type relays are used, along with overvoltage, and sometimes overcurrent. On the HV system, over voltage relays are often not necessary. On the distribution system, distance relays and other directionalized relays are often overkill, so simple over current relays are used.
There are many special systems used as well. Most of these are applied to small portions of the HV and EHV system for stability or overload prevention.
