∙ 8y agoJean-Baptiste Lamarck thought that changes in an organism during it's lifetime would be inherited by its offspring. His hypothesis would predict that the children of a body builder would be stronger than the children of that same person if he or she had not been a body builder. Another common example: a giraffe's neck is long because each generation streches its neck a little further in its quest to reach the highest leaves. Reality: the giraffes with the longest necks survive longer and have more offspring than ones with shorter necks.
Lamarck believed that changes acquired during an animal's life could be inherited by their offspring. We now know that inheritance does not work in this way.
For example, if you are a body builder, and develop big muscles, your children will not inherit large muscles.
Inherirtance works through genes, which are inherited through the egg and sperm from the parents.

I don't exactly know why evolutionists refer to it as a theory, but I do know this. A theory is an explanation or model based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning. According to the definition of a theory, evolution is not a theory. Evolution cannot be based on observation. No one was here to observe it. So evolution should be classified as a hypothesis not a theory. It is only a guess as to how things came about.
