The Great Pyramid Of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza! Dr Who, I'm guessing?! ;)
The first "sighting" of Stonehenge was when it was built. Since that time it has remained in the same location, which has been common knowledge. It has never been lost or rediscovered.
It is believed that the Winter Solstice was celebrated by the Celts, the same group believed to build the Stonehenge. The Stonehenge appears to have been built to celebrate this time of year.
Speculation on the reason it was built range from human sacrifice to astronomy.
Stonehenge was built in Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England between 3000 and 1500 BC. No one is really sure why it was built or what group used it but theories abound that state Stonehenge may have been a Celtic temple or used by Druid societies.
Stonehenge has no official ceremonial use today, other than a tourist attraction.
There is no evidence to suggest that Stonehenge predicts the pyramids. Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids were built by different civilizations in different time periods and have distinct architectural styles and purposes.
The building of Stonehenge began several thousand years ago and as no written records of this time exist it is doubtful if anyone will ever discover for certain exactly how or why it was built let alone who had the initial idea. Stonehenge was built over a period of about 1500 years, and altered considerably during that time, so there were several 'ideas' at various times.
Stonehenge was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.No one knows who built the Stonehenge, but since it was built over a very long time, it may have been built by people of a series of cultures. The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act of 1979 legally protects Stonehenge. The Stonehenge has a series of stone circles surrounded by a ditch and bank, along with trilithons in the center and a number of marker stones.A henge is a Neolithic circular earthwork not built for defense. Stonehenge has its name because it is a henge with standing stones.
Around the same time as the first three stones of Stonehenge
Nobody knows. Stonehenge is one of the world's greatest mysteries. There are theories that Stonehenge may somehow be related to the solar or lunar cycles or to the positions of the stars. But because nobody knows who built it or exactly when, it's difficult to know what was going on in the sky at the time of its construction to try and match Stonehenge to astronomical events
