Life for yeomen, who were a social class below the gentry, in the 1500s varied depending on their location and specific circumstances. Generally, they were free landowners who lived in rural areas and worked on their own land. They were responsible for their own farming and livestock, and their lifestyle could range from modest to comfortable. They played a crucial role in the agricultural economy and often held positions of local leadership.
