Yes the Church should appoint officers to fulfill the needs of the church. Such as, Pastors, Deacons and treasury
When the Hellenists thought that their widows were being neglected, the Apostles moved to appoint the first deacons to see to this distribution, see the 6th chapter of Acts.
The first deacons were Stephen, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus.
In a Baptist church, the main duty of leadership falls to the pastor/preacher, who is expected to lead his church according to the Bible. He is free to appoint deacons (or have them elected, etc.) and other leadership roles as he sees fit. Some pastors prefer alot of help; some prefer very little. Any and all authority that the deacons have is determined by the pastor.
In SBC church many of the trustees are the deacons.
In our church, usually the deacons do the ushering.
Not all deacons hold candles. It must be a tradition in your church.
There were seven men chosen by the early Church as deacons.
In deacons' meetings non-deacons can be there. The visitors should be allowed to speak if it is moved, seconded and voted on by the deacons. They should not be allowed to vote on decisions if it is not address in the constitution and by laws of the church. Robert's Rules of Order came to be from the baptist church so they should be followed when making binding decisions.
b/c it's a requirement of the church. but honestly if it's a church of true christians it shouldn't matter what you wear.
Pastor & Deacons.
The two scriptural offices of the church are Pastors and Deacons.
