some where around like 16 cents it was very cheap wish it was today.

*Edit 16 cents in 1916 is the inflation adjusted equivalent to about $3.01 in 2008, in real terms. So gas prices were less affordable back then when compared to wages than today even with the $2.50-$3.00 we've seen recently.
