Mei OS a pasta in China and Japan. Mei has pasta and meat in it. Can mean many things, depends on context.
The raw materials that they use seem to be a little inferior. Much of the work that should be automated is done by hand, creating a problem for quality conrol. Initially, "made in Japan" was considered to be an indication of poor quality, but attitudes have changed since the Japanese have improved their quality control. China can improve their products but they'll need to spend some money to do it. The metals they use are soft, their machining is not as precise as it should be... but it always looks nice. That's part of the problem, the products look good but don't last so people focus on the fact that it's "made in China".
Three things could have made it happen- When Japan invaded Manchuria in 1931 When Japan did not isolate China When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 I hope this helped you a little bit :)
