The sudden andenormoussurge in manufacturing required for the war effort helped push America into economic stability for a while, and the 1950s was the most economically sound time in our history. As for social changes women were now more welcomed in the work place (not yet equal, just more accepted) and African Americans were more welcomed in the military (still segregated and usually unwelcome in the civilian world until the civil rights movement however)
